PLAY GUIDE

12+ months

  • Let your baby explore the tractor and trailer and demonstrate how the two can be attached and detached from each other.
  • Show your baby the driver and cow and their moving, clicking parts. Show how the cow can fit inside the trailer to be transported along from one place to another.
  • Show your baby that the toy moves and encourage your little one to push it along the ground and crawl after it.
  • Turn on the vehicle and show your child the tractor and trailer in action - demonstrate how to press the head down to make it go. (At this stage your infant may be too young to do this themselves but they will love to watch the car spring to life and move across the floor.)
  • Imitate the sounds the tractor makes and praise your infant if they can join in with you.

    18+ months

    • Show your child how to turn on the tractor and make it go. Encourage them to do it by themselves and to chase after it.
    • Imitate the sound effects of the tractor and encourage your infant to do the same - ‘brum brum, beep beep’.
    • Talk about the appearance of the tractor and it's driver - e.g. what color it is, how many wheels has it got? Introduce younger children to new language such as steering wheel, headlights, horn, trailer, cow, farmer etc.
    • Talk with your older child about the tractor and it's trailer - what does a tractor do? Who uses tractors? Why do we need tractors? What does a farmer do?
    • Relate the toy to a real tractor from real life, books or television and show your infant the similarities between the two.
      • Encourage your child to use his or her imagination to play. Let your child take the lead but help with ideas if necessary. You may like to bring in other Tolo farm animals, vehicles and accessories to help your child create a colorful imaginative world of farmyard fun!

      First Birthday Hit!

Tolo toys have the cutest designs. Bright colors jointed figures and great quality hold up for years. I have had the first friends, their house, their car and the animal friends for years in my grandma’s house box of toys. The oldest grandchild is now 17! When deciding what to get the youngest grand for his first birthday these sweet toys came to mind. How cute is the farm tractor and trailer with working lights, sounds and motions!
